Projects/Groups

Currently:

The Walden School

Since summer 2010, I’ve worked at The Walden School’s Young Musicians Program. YMP is a summer program for young composers to develop their musicianship, compositional skills and other musical endeavors. I’ve also attended all three levels of their Teacher Training Institute, a great intro to Walden for those too old to attend YMP.

The SWEAT Lodge

I’m part of this group with lovelies Cory Bracken, Amirtha Kidambi, Ellen O’Meara, Dave Ruder and Joe White. We present monthly events at Exapno in Brooklyn–playing our own music, covers, rep., etc. as well as programming other performers and composers.

Performers Forum

Performers Forum is directed by Cory Bracken and involves the same crew of miscreants as The Sweat Lodge. We present monthly fora (also at Exapno) featuring musicians who speaking about their own music–equal parts lecture, performance and discussion.

Brooklyn College Center for Computer Music

I work for the BC-CCM running labs and helping TA for classes. We have concerts each semester as well as the Biannual International Electroacoustic Music Festival.

Carrier Records

Awesome New York label releasing albums by cool composers/ensembles/improvisers. Run by total badass Sam Pluta who I help out sometimes with interny work.

In the past:

I’ve worked with these lovely groups of people as a composer or performer or other role. You should check out what they do!

Wherever There is Water

This was a project led by the AWESOME artist George Ferrandi during her residency at the Fleischer Art Memorial in Philadelphia. It involved all sorts of interesting elements and culminated in a night parade through the streets of South Philly. Check out George’s current studio/gallery/miracle space, Wayfarers.

Why Lie?

Octet of musicians who performed Dave Ruder’s Why Lie? – 100 pieces for unspecified instrumentation written in 4-stave diamond clef scores.

I also performed this year at the Electronic Music Midwest festival.
